We bring to the Prague stage something between Berghain and Bayreuth. We are introducing a new dimension of partying, where it will make sense that you dance to classical and electro music at the same time. With this concept we are coming to the pulsating heart of the Prague club scene - Bike Jesus. By combining opera singers*, DJs and techno atmosphere, this will create OPERAVE. Don't expect a performance or a concert - we'll bring elements of opera to the rave as it should be. Opera and electro music will become equal partners. Entertainment will be provided by Noisy Pots, Tanita Yank, and opera singers Bella Adamova and Kristýna Kůstková. At OPERAVE, we break down the barriers between the glitzy opera culture and the nightlife of the raves, building on the values where both musical worlds can work together. How would your friends &amp; family react if you brought home a famous womaniser, courtesan, someone of the same sex, or a drag queen? Where has the threshold of tolerance shifted since the premiere of the provocative opera La Traviata? We want to fulfil the original intention of the opera and draw the attention to the “modern man”, who is still pressured by the court of public opinion. In its production of La Traviata, RUN OPERUN joined forces with an established dancing ensemble PLAYboyz under the direction of a choreographer Martin Talaga, who has long studied the themes of nudity, sexuality and queerness. The choir was replaced by drag queens and the music was enriched through electronic elements. Top Czech and foreign performers, with whom both ensembles were cooperating for a long time, were cast in singing and choral roles.Collaboration with&nbsp; PLAYBOYZThe ensemble PLAYboyz focuses on dance and physical theatre, performance and experimental theatre (SYNovial, SOMA a SOMA workshops, Faunus, Homo Sensorium a PiNKBUS). In 2020, the ensemble introduced a new creative platform called PiNKBUS through which the ensemble entered its new creative phase. The creators managed to combine the underground drag &amp; queer scene with professional artists (Jaroslav Vinařský, Nela Kornetová, Katarzia, Just Karen, Tonic ad.). This project, among other things, stems from the fascination we derive from observing reality, whilst also acknowledging that our limited perspective prevents us from capturing reality as a whole. Our vision is distorted by several tiny factors, which prevent us from appreciating everyday situations in all of their complexity. Through our self-absorption, we often interpret various situations only through our narrow vision. Self-censorship or, conversely, high self-esteem then becomes the main mediator of our comprehension of social situations and their interpretations. Insecurity and fear paralyse us. We tend to attach greater importance to our own perspective than it actually has in the grand scheme of things. Four strangers reply to the same newspaper advertisement and they meet in the same apartment belonging to a strange man: a shy lady, a blunt conspirator, a driver suffering from an anxiety disorder, and a mysterious woman, who constantly holds her phone and often disappears into the same room. Everyone has their own obsession, which they manage to hide with varying degrees of success. What brought them there? Why do they repeatedly and willingly bring themselves into uncomfortable situations? Can they overcome the mental barriers brought upon them by their own minds? The kernel of the directorial concept lies in the fact that both the libretto and the music were created based on collective improvisation built upon a simple thematic framework. Thus, the inhospitable norms of contemporary society do not intimidate her from falling in love with a stranger. Love attracts the main heroine so much that she abandons the dictates of the supernatural world, which is governed by Vodnik (the water goblin). But she soon finds out what all the superficial charms of real-world courtship can do with her deep feelings. In this sense, the spectator becomes a witness of a timeless struggle that withstands the power of time. Yet, Mozart’s music remains the same. The Count and the Countess are experiencing a serious marital crisis. Figaro and his beloved Zuzana fall into an exhausting game of love intrigues and each of the characters goes through a character rebirth. Each of the characters carries their frustration, their own inferiority complex, which gradually deepen in their detached and enclosed estate. As a result, the comedic style of the opera gradually culminates into a thriller... The new adaptation stems from the internal logic of the opera: it leads the spectator to see the radical consequences of each character’s behaviour. Moreover, it combines the suggestive classical music with the disturbing competition of manipulators, their schemes and the hollow or multilayered nature of the characters. Through this interpretation, you will perceive the classic comedy as if it were happening to you. Does it really seem funny that someone might be cheating on you with a maid, that you have a lower status as a woman, or that you are being used because of your money? Not at all. That’s why we have prepared a psychothriller of morals, not a lewd comedy. This new operatic rendition is based on the fundamental difference between the dramaturgy of Beaumarchais and Da Ponte’s libretto. Beaumarchais intended his comedy to be a provocative satiric play within the political context of the time, and thereby he was disregarding the actual complex relationships between the characters. Whereas Da Ponte aimed to depict the pain each character is experiencing, the pain that stems from the way the characters are treating one another. In the opera, Francis Poulenc presents a cult of female beauty without heroic embellishments and any sort of romanticization. In many dimensions and shades, this story slowly reveals not only a fragile woman in the weakest moments of uncertainty but also in waves of the deepest hysteria. Despair alternates with audacity; flirtation evolves into an intense inner struggle. After less than an hour of opera, the spectator comes to identify with the whirlwind of emotion that is all conveyed by music, scenography and other artistic components. As a result, the spectator gets to internalise intense emotions through all kinds of art. The composer Francis Poulenc created this masterpiece based on the work of the writer and French cultural figure - Jean Cocteau. Therefore, Poulenc not only aimed to emphasise the female position in the world but also aspired to highlight how it is affected by the technological development of his era. The opera depicts a phone call. A break-up over the phone. However, in our production, we do not perceive the story within a fairy-tale context; where the fight between good and evil or the contrast between the world of men and the world of fairy-tale creatures seem to be dominant. Rather, in this production we present Rusalka more like a psychological horror, where we highlight the hideousness of the aquatic world and the frivolousness of the human world. All in all, we point out individual aspects of the characters' actions in a darker light. Why are the Mermaids trapped in the lake? The production is a grandiose Cabarete delicacy, where the viewer can see just on one stage everything from the operatic version of Like a Virgin and I’m a Barbie Girl to a serious political debate Only Dvořák and Smetana or the GenyThalie Awards. Although, the “Operatic Enema” is a somewhat surprising title, for someone maybe even a shocking title, the principle behind it is simple. It can be described in three words: performance, bizarrerie and party. Several young opera divas and Pavarottis are faced with improvisation. This handful of artists is thrown into a whirlpool of satire filled with political and social jokes. The audience can look forward to seeing a total clash of civilisations and cultural worlds, which is something definitely worth seeing! Whether the singers can withstand all of this depends only on them and on the support of the audience!
